Journeys--poem by Dorothy

Journeys
(for the Beloved Within)

Some went to
India and Egypt
to seek the wonder.

They met the Sages,
entered the pyramids.

I stayed home and
felt the bliss.

You and I,
my darling—
we made love
together
for so many days,
 endless nights.

Our journey ended
in each other.

Penny Hackett-Evans--Thanksgiving 2014--poem

Thanksgiving   2014

I have been watching the dolphins

and I would like to learn from

the way they thank the ocean

with their playfulness.  Or maybe from

the seagulls that thank the air

by whirling in circles.  Maybe I could

learn to give thanks like surfers

that fall into a big wave laughing.

Or maybe I could praise the darkness

as the sliver of a moon slips itself

into the night sky like a brilliant

thank-you note without words.

Or the way the ocean reflects

back the glorious sun at dawn

and the way the waves sing

the Hallelujah Chorus constantly.

The world teaches us over and over

how to be thankful.

Praise with your joy – it is enough.

Kabir--Are You Looking for Me? (poem)

Kabir

“Are you looking for me?

I am in the next seat.

My shoulder is against yours.

you will not find me in the stupas,
not in Indian shrine rooms,
nor in synagogues,
nor in cathedrals:
not in masses,
nor kirtans,
not in legs winding around your own neck,
nor in eating nothing but vegetables.

When you really look for me,
you will see me instantly —
you will find me in the tiniest house of time.

Kabir says: Student, tell me, what is God?

He is the breath inside the breath.”

Rashani Re'a, Poet, Artist, Feminist, Wise Woman

Recently, I have been in correspondence with Rashani Re'a, a remarkable artist and visionary who has become known world wide for her beautiful collages, one of which is reprinted here.  This particular poem has been reprinted in numerous anthologies and given hope and inspiration to the many who have read it.  It speaks to our yearning for deep healing when we experience grief.  If you turn to her website, you will find many such collages reprinted.  They are indeed amazing, just as she is an amazing woman.

Rashani lives in Hawai'i, where she operates a retreat center for both men and women.  She has had a remarkable life, which she describes on her site.

Recently we connected on the internet and discovered that each of us had had poems set to music by the same composer and musician in England.  These were performed a few years ago in the Royal Opera house in London.  Then she told me that she herself had recommended me to this composer, something I had not known before.  We also both were represented in an anthology of spiritual poetry a few years back.

Go to her website and see more of her beautiful greeting cards and read more about her life and her sanctuary at:

The Admonition

The Admonition

Two workshops, and in each
the leader said to us,
“Claim your power!”
and I puzzled what this might mean.

Should  I stand on a mountain top
and shout oracles?
Learn, finally,
to downhill ski?
Win a prize in a baking contest
for best chocolate cake?

“You don’t get it,”
I yearned to say.

At this age
something happens inside.

Your “power” is not just
making things happen.

It is looking around at the world,
with its miseries and concerns
with a certain compassion,
sympathy for the struggles
that never end,
but not trying to “fix it” alone or
turn it around single handed.

It is, rather, to be the silent witness,
the one who observes
and discerns the patterns,
the secret threads
that hold it all together,
encourages the others,
then the one who lets go.

November Afternoon (poem by Dorothy)

November Afternoon

Only four o’clock
and already
the light is fading.
As if there were only a certain amount
of allotted sunshine each year
and we were approaching our limit.

On the radio Dvorak
and in here solitude,
the joy of whole minutes
“remembering who we are”
and also the vague rising from below,
what if? what if?  what can we cling to
in a world riddled with uncertainties
and loss?

In between numbers,
the announcer wants us to
buy things:
automobiles, electronic devices,
whole houses, even.

But I can no longer drive
and don't understand
the new gadgets.
I have my tiny home.
What would one do
with an entire house?

Now, all has changed.

Fulfillment comes
not from having
but from relinquishment,
letting go,
preparing for the final
releasing into the light.

Your Particular Pain--poem by Dorothy

Your Particular Pain

Hold on to your particular pain.
That too can take you to God.
                                    Rumi

Only a moment ago
I was floating beneath
waterfulls,
basking
in their flower scent.

Now I am standing
in a desert,
where nothing blooms
and no sound is heard.

I do not know
how I got here,
when I may leave.

Now all I really want to do
is to try to remember
all that has passed between us,
and kneel and weep.

Kuroda Saburo --"I Am Completely Different" (poem)

I Am Completely Different

I am completely different.
Though I am wearing the same tie as yesterday,
am as poor as yesterday,
as good for nothing as yesterday,
today
I am completely different.
Though I am wearing the same clothes,
am as drunk as yesterday,
living as clumsily as yesterday, nevertheless
today
I am completely different.

Ah ...
I patiently close my eyes
on all the grins and smirks
on all the twisted smiles and horse laughs---
and glimpse then, inside me
one beautiful white butterfly
fluttering towards tomorrow.

~ Kuroda Saburo ~

Frankincense and Amber--poem by Dorothy

Frankincense and Amber--poem by Dorothy

This morning,
bliss once more.
Unannounced,
not expected,
just by holding that
all but forgotten vial
of fragrant essence
(Frankincense and Amber)
near and inhaling once or
twice—
and presto there I was again,
standing in front of my mirror
in the little dressing room,
yet transported (as they say)
into that other sphere
where pleasure defies definition,
and one seems to have a preview
of what it is like
in the “beyond.”

Is that what happens
with drugs? I wonder.
Do people rob and worse
to feel such joy?

How is it that I,
an elder, a crone,
an octogenarian as they
name it (as if it were
a strange animal or
perhaps an exotic plant
in the garden)—
how can it be
that now,
at this juncture,
even though I seem to have lost
my passport
for so many other earthly realms,
here, now, with these simple
movements
hands and hips in tiny circles,
eyes closed,
enter that sphere
where only the saints
are reputed to dwell?

Actually, this event occurred the day before the intense experience described in the previous entry.  This one was lovely, but it was almost like a dress rehearsal for the one that followed next day.   I think it is important to attempt to describe the subjective experience of such bliss states, as we try to fathom what Kundalini is and how it affects us.  Of course, each of us responds in a different way.
I also think that, though scientific investigation of the Kundalini phenomenon is important, we must not forget that, in the final telling, it is how it actually affects us individually that matters most to those going through this transformational process.  Such descriptions also can also help others to understand what Kundalini actually can feel like.
Of course, such intense events are ultimately ineffable: to describe them accurately is like trying to catch sunlight with a butterfly net.

And Still More Bliss

It happened again this morning.  Before I did anything else, I went in to my computer to check my e-mails and there was a description of a Kundalini internet site that was new to me.  After I read it for a few minutes, I felt the bliss come in.  First it seemed to focus on my head--as delightful sensation in and around my crown. Then the energies began to flow throughout my body, until it seemed that every cell and corpuscle was lit with inner joy.
Finally, it moved into my hands and, though I have often felt the bliss there, this was more intense that any sensation I have ever experienced in this location.  My hands seemed to come alive in an unfamiliar way--almost as if they belonged to someone else who could withstand and carry such extreme ecstatic energy.  And I also felt delightful movement up my spine on either side--a novel response for me.
At times I wondered if I was prepared to cope with such bodily/spiritual experience.  At times I wondered if I was dying.  I literally prayed to be strong enough to sustain this extreme ecstasy.
It lasted about 30 minutes, all while I was seated at the computer, barely moving my body or hands (held in prayer position) but breathing in short brief breaths
Afterwards I remained quietly at the computer for another half hour, until I was more "recovered" from this encounter.
At the end, I sent these sweet energies as blessings into the universe, and prayed in especial for a friend in need.
I see this--and all similar experiences I have been graced with--as part of the ongoing process of the evolution of the race, now occurring over the planet in many different ways.  Each is a sacred moment, union with the Beloved, a remembering of our true being.  Our nervous systems are literally being transformed and this is how it is happening, one by one, incident by incident, as we become the new human.
I may add that, even though I continue to be "zapped by shakti," I also continue to have the health challenges that come along with the aging process--nothing terribly serious but sufficient to cause me discomfort in daily life.
Meanwhile I participate in the universal process of transformation, trusting that the entire process is orchestrated by a divine intention.

Thich Nhat Hanh--"Call Me by my True Names"

As many know, Thich Nhat Hanh has suffered a brain hemmorrhage and is gravely ill.  Prayers are requested for this remarkable man who has contributed so much to world peace and harmony.

Please Call Me by My True Names

Don't say that I will depart tomorrow -
even today I am still arriving.

Look deeply: every second I am arriving
to be a bud on a Spring branch,
to be a tiny bird, with still-fragile wings,
learning to sing in my new nest,
to be a caterpillar in the heart of a flower,
to be a jewel hiding itself in a stone.

I still arrive, in order to laugh and to cry,
to fear and to hope.

The rhythm of my heart is the birth and death
of all that is alive.

I am the mayfly metamorphosing
on the surface of the river.
And I am the bird
that swoops down to swallow the mayfly.

I am the frog swimming happily
in the clear water of a pond.
And I am the grass-snake
that silently feeds itself on the frog.

I am the child in Uganda, all skin and bones,
my legs as thin as bamboo sticks.
And I am the arms merchant,
selling deadly weapons to Uganda.

I am the twelve-year-old girl,
refugee on a small boat,
who throws herself into the ocean
after being raped by a sea pirate.
And I am the pirate,
my heart not yet capable
of seeing and loving.

I am a member of the politburo,
with plenty of power in my hands.
And I am the man who has to pay
his "debt of blood" to my people
dying slowly in a forced-labor camp.

My joy is like Spring, so warm
it makes flowers bloom all over the Earth.
My pain is like a river of tears,
so vast it fills the four oceans.

Please call me by my true names,
so I can hear all my cries and my laughter at once,
so I can see that my joy and pain are one.

Please call me by my true names,
so I can wake up,
and so the door of my heart
can be left open,
the door of compassion.

- Thich Nhat Hanh

Universal Awakening--Madisyn Taylor

Universal Awakening
Rippling and Tipping

by Madisyn Taylor

Like the ripple on a lake spreading out, humanity is awakening at an ever increasing speed.

A snowball at the top of a mountain has the potential to become huge, just by rolling down the mountain and gathering more snow. In a short time, this tiny snowball can become a force to be reckoned with. We humans are like this when it comes to exchanging energy and vision, and no matter how few people are involved at the beginning, there is the potential for massive change. As consciousness seekers, we are in the midst of this process, and it is amazing to see people we thought might never come around, waking up to their truth. Each time we see this, we can count ourselves blessed to be living at a time when the awareness of humanity seems to be at a tipping point, as more and more individuals open their minds and change their ways.

For some people, this revolves around an awareness of the environment, for others it is a spiritual awakening, and for many it is both. A great change in consciousness is sweeping through us all, as we recognize that things are not what they have seemed to be, that there is more to our lives than meets the eye. Many of us have the awareness and the energy at this time to break through old, outmoded ways of seeing things and to move into a new way of being in the world, and it is essential that we do so. The beauty of living at this time is that even small actions have a powerful ripple effect, and the reverberations of what we do have the power to reach and open many minds.

It is as if a scale is about to tip in favor of higher consciousness, and each one of us has the power to bring humanity closer to that point with the smallest of actions. Each time we move in the direction of our dreams and visions, we can visualize another small pebble dropping into the pond, or another gold weight on the scale, rippling and tipping our way to universal awakening.

Your Arms Folded

Your Arms Folded

You are standing there, still, with your
arms folded.

I am running around, searching frantically,
behind every bush,
scanning the limbs of every tree.

Where have you gone?
I cry.
Why are you always hiding?

Meanwhile you stand there unmoving
wondering if I will
ever look up
and see you,
right before my face.

Yoga of Light and The Last Avatar (movie)

Here is a fascinating article presented by Sharon Rose, in connection with the new movie she produced called "The Last Avatar."
It contains much good information, but, as always, I do not agree with it totally.  For example, it talks about the passage of kundalini through the chakras, up the spine.  For me, the energy finds its own path, flowing throughout the body.  Further, the kundalini can also activate as the fusion of male and female aspects within one's own system--no external partner is required,
But I do strongly believe that the basic goal of the kundalini process is reunion with our divine essence.  And, though certain practices may aid in this process, those of us who have experienced spontaneous kundalini awakening into ecstasy know that such transformation can occur in a split second, even in one who appears to be quite unprepared.
One theory holds that we bring our energy bodies with us when we reincarnate, and thus we return at whatever level we had attained in our previous existence.
I will say more about "The Last Avatar" in a later entry.
A trailer of this movie is available on youtube--search for the title and add the name of Sharon Rose.  Actually, the movie appears to be rather stagey and overly dramatic--maybe even a bit hokey--but I think it would be well worth watching.  The central theme is correct--we need to remember who we are and thus to attain our goal of becoming a body of light.

Yoga of Light

By Sharron Rose,  sharronrose.com

The Yoga of Light is an ancient science and spiritual practice of physical and spiritual purification and transformation. It teaches us how to perceive and regulate the radiant light and energy of divinity through our physical and luminous energy bodies. Its ultimate goal is the reunion with our divine essence and the transmutation of the very substance of our being back into its true nature as light.

The alchemists of ancient Egypt and Medieval Europe and the yogis and yoginis of India and Tibet spent their lives in pursuit of this sacred endeavor. The Egyptians even believed that through this practice, it was possible for a human being to realize their immortal body of light and become a star in the heavens. The Zohar, a primary text of the Hebrew Kabbalistic tradition speaks of this very same transformative process. ” The enlightened shall shine like the radiance (Zohar) of the sky, and those who lead multitudes to righteousness, like the stars forever”.

Evidence of the attainment of this light body can also be found in the Dzogchen and Tantric traditions of Tibet. Throughout Tibetan lore, we find stories of the manifestation of what is referred to as the luminous rainbow body by highly developed adepts and practitioners. Through the vehicle of their devotion and practice, they are able to totally purify and exhaust their karma, enter into the essence of the five elements, which is light, transform their body into radiant energy, and vanish like a rainbow in the sky.

According to Tibetan master Namkai Norbu Rinpoche, once this transformation has taken place, the cycle of reincarnation is complete and one can choose to reappear in a luminous form in order to help and teach sentient beings. The great Tibetan master Padmasambhava, his female consorts Princesses Mandarava and Yeshe Tsogyel along with numerous Tibetan yogis and yoginis are believed to have realized this enlightened state. In fact, there have been eyewitness accounts of the miraculous achievement of the rainbow body as recently as ten years ago by a simple, unassuming Rinpoche named Acho Rinpoche in Tibet.

Throughout European lore there are legends from the alchemical tradition that tell us of men and women who have also achieved this extraordinary transformation that was once the ultimate goal for all human beings. In the Christian tradition, the magical transmutation of Christ into a shining body of glory may very well be a manifestation of this very same process. Further evidence of this extraordinary achievement can be seen in the religious art of cultures the world over. Flying on golden wings of light, their heads encircled by glistening halos, sitting amidst shining spheres or standing in a glowing cocoon of light, the images of Gods, Goddesses, Saints, Boddhisattvas, Kachinas and Star people offer us symbolic visions of the fully illuminated being.

At the secret heart of the Tantric tradition, encoded in the arts of temple dance, music and ritual, hidden within the alchemical and mystic teachings of Kabbalah, one can discover the essence of this great tradition of light body yoga. Essential to the understanding of this yogic form is awareness of the Divine Feminine as the primordial creative light and energy of divinity. As Shakti of the Tantric tradition she is described as “the animating and nourishing force of life itself,” the “voice, light and energy of divinity that exists in every thing and every being.” And as Shekinah of the Hebrew Kabbalistic tradition, she is described as “the principle light and essence of this world”, “the woman of light in whose mystery are rooted all females of the earth”.

In the Tantric tradition this sacred spiritual current of the Divine Feminine is also known as the Kundalini Shakti, and is symbolized by a serpent that sits at the base of the human spine. Through meditation, visualization, mudra, mantra and other yogic exercises this mystic Kundalini energy of the Goddess is aroused and directed upwards through the body, permeating and opening our seven subtle chakras, the energy centers that lie along our spinal cords. Through this powerful process, the practitioner is aligned with her/his divine essence, the inner fire is ignited, the mystic eye is opened and she or he begins to see the flowing currents of light and energy that create, envelop and connect all living things.

Since possessing a clear perception of the luminous energy field is a fundamental starting point for this yogic form, let us take a look at the physics of the female and male energy fields.

The female energy field can be pictured as a river of luminous light flowing up from mother earth, from the heart of Mother Nature herself, through the central channel and chakras of her body. When it reaches the top of her head or crown chakra depicted in Tantric iconography as a thousand-petaled lotus, it rises up and cascades downwards, showering around her body with streams of liquid light to begin its upward ascent.

In men this vital and radiant energy flows in the opposite direction. The light flows down from the heavenly realms through the top of his head, suffusing his spinal column and chakras, exiting from the base of his spine to rise and expand upward and encircle the body until it reaches the top of his head and begins its descent again.

This flow of luminous energy creates a donut or egg-shaped pattern around the body known to physicists as the hyper dimensional torus. This toroidal pattern can clearly be seen in many paintings of Christ and the Virgin Mary, as well as those of the Hindu and Tibetan deities.

Since the natural flow of the woman’s subtle energy is upward towards spirit, in this ancient yogic tradition of light, many rituals existed in which women were spiritual guides assuming the role of teacher and initiatrix into sexual and spiritual mysteries.

After years of rigorous physical, artistic, intellectual and spiritual training in this powerful yogic form, designed to align women with the enlightened qualities and energies of the Goddess, they would perform this vital initiatory role. Opening themselves to their divine feminine essence, they would transform into the Goddess and assist male devotees in awakening to higher consciousness. Through the vehicle of their sacred union, which mirrored the union of Shiva and Shakti, men would gain a direct visceral experience of the upward flow of their Kundalini Shakti.

There exists in the literature numerous legends and stories of the lives of renowned male sages and yogis who were sent specifically to the temples or sacred caves to receive the powerful inner and secret initiations from female gurus. These legends speak of the testing period, which the male had to go through in order to prove his sincerity and devotion. In many instances he was requested to perform and accomplish tasks, which would convince her of his enthusiasm, determination and suitability to receive her teachings. He was told that .his mind must never sway from the burning desire to achieve liberation and he must one-pointedly purify his body and mind to prepare himself for and then request initiation into the secret experientially based knowledge. Only then, after an initial period of testing would he be accepted into her inner sanctum and receive the sublime teachings unique to the path of the Kundalini Shakti.

In the mystic teachings of the Kabbalistic tradition we can see this same principle at work. In this tradition, it is the wife as the living representative of the Shekinah who carries the power to shape the spiritual foundation of the home from a place of profound vision. Therefore, it is said that she is the one who enlightens the eyes of her husband. Every Friday night, as she lights the Shabbat candles, the woman calls on the spirit of the Shekinah or divine feminine principle to come and dwell within their home. During the course of this magical night, the woman and man are required to perform the sacred act of sexual union, thus replicating in human form the ultimate goal of their spiritual practice — the mystic union of the Blessed Holy One and his Shekinah.

So many of us caught up in the stresses and strains of our contemporary society long for a path in which we can more fully experience the beauty and richness of life — a path of love, harmony, balance and union. Pouring forth from the sacred heart of mystic traditions the world over, the teachings and techniques of the Yoga of Light offer us a powerful experientially based method to achieve these heartfelt goals.

Buddha's Advice and the use of Prescribed Techniques

"That which you have tried yourself, which you have experienced, which you have recognized as true, and which will be beneficial to you and to others; believe that, and shape your conduct to it." --Buddha, Kalama Sutta

I have long followed Buddha's advice.  I find that when teachers prescribe a certain path or a certain set of practices, their words do not help me.  Often, I cannot feel any shakti move when I attempt to follow a guided meditation or perform a breathing practice under their administration.  I am a maverick and follow my own inner direction, which changes
notably over time (say from floor yoga to music to dance to slow movement and quick breathing, to name a few practices I have done through the years.)

Indeed when I do my own "practice," following the guidance of my own "inner guru" (the Beloved Within), remarkable things ensue.  Just a few days ago, I remembered that I had a vial of a certain flower essence on my dressing table that I had all but forgotten, and I decided to check how it might affect my morning experience.  I took a few whiffs (Frankincense Amber from Inesscents) and was immediately transported into bliss.  But the effect was not produced from the flower essence alone.  It can from the state of consciousness I was in at that moment.  On another day I might feel nothing at all, and likewise if someone else tried this experience, they might have no such response.  You must find what suits you--indeed, with flower essences (and all else), you should choose what attracts you, not try to follow the lead of someone else.  Your inner reaction will guide you, tell you whether or not this is right for you.

Next day, I started with my familiar current practice (done standing) of moving my hands in circles before my body while gently doing hip rotations.  I felt sweet energies as I circled my hands several inches from my body all the way up to the top of my head.  I moved my hands above the center of my crown and felt the gentle sweetness move over my scalp .  But then I opened my eyes, and to my surprise discovered that my hands were not centered above my crown at all, but rather were several inches off to one side.  Once more I felt that "feeling follows intention," even when, as in this case, my hands were some distance away from the response center.

I am not even sure what produced these exquisite sensations, each an affirmation of the sacred tie to the Beloved.  Perhaps I am stroking my aura, since no touching or extreme movements are involved.  I am not sure what to name this process, other than "entering the Mystery and uniting with the Beloved Within."  I call it "touchless rapture," after the "Touchless Car Wash" that I used to visit in San Francisco.

Because I have such experiences, I am a firm believer in Buddha's admonition to "be a light unto yourself."  Your path is unique and it is your own.  Sometimes set practices or fixed techniques may be helpful, but in the end it is your show, your journey,  and your spirit guide will tell you how to go.

Kabir (poem by Dorothy)--plus new talk from Mirabai Starr

Kabir

The mystery of words
is that they carry the power,
even if it is impossible
to say it.

They talk about the
unstruck note,
the music of the untouched
flute,
the unsaid declaration
of love.

And then they give up
and they go dancing about
the house,
ankle bracelets
tinkling,
throat making
a sound of joy.

Kabir, my dear one,
I know you,
we have met
in a secret place.

Mirabai Star--free replay from Shift

Mirabai Starr will be talking on Teresa of Avila, one of the great early Christian mystics who experienced and wrote about her own experiences of "rapture." Clearly she was experiencing the extreme ecstasy of Kundalini, and thus her life is especially significant to all of us undergoing similar transformation in our own lives.  In my view, Mirabai Starr is one of the outstanding spiritual teachers of our time and this presentation is a unique opportunity to hear her words.

The following announcement is one I received from Stephan Dinan of Shift this morning:

I want to send you a quick reminder about the inspirational encore event with Mirabai Starr, tomorrow, November 8, at 10:00am Pacific.

Again, here are your call-in details:

Listen in on our free webcast at http://InstantTeleseminar.com/?eventid=61492503
Or dial (425) 440-5100 and enter the PIN 498523#

Mirabai is an illuminating and grounded teacher who really knows how to bring the mystical life alive. She has a touching ability with her words and stories to carry us into the inner chambers of the soul.

Through her love for Teresa of Avila, she harvests powerful insights for living a mystical but grounded path in the modern world.

In the following audio clip, Mirabai speaks about her own personal journey of transformation through the tragic loss of her child. While devastating, this loss also opened a powerful relationship with the Beloved, especially as she sought solace and guidance through St. Teresa's journey into the interior castle.

Fool's Gold (poem by Dorothy)

Fool’s Gold

Who am I that I must always be pretending?
Never showing all of
who I am.

If you are not ready,
do not seek to know this
treasure.

You will only discover
fool’s gold,
fake jewelry
worth nothing at all.

Then you will proclaim
to everyone within earshot:
“Warning: this so called "secret revelation"
is in fact a joke,
a hoax, a fraud!”
Don't believe a word
of what they claim!"

Highlights of Sally Kempton's webinar of October 12

Some Highlights of Sally Kempton's webinar talk of Oct. 12--to be repeated on Oct. 21.

When she was having problems with her Kundalini early on, she was told by a guru that the cause was that the energies were rising in the wrong channel.  But when she consulted with Muktananda (her later guru) he laughed and said that the powers of Kundalini would come up as the way you need.

The traditional techniques of yoga were designed by males and for the most part practiced by males.  This approach stressed the need to control the energies--through breathing, asanas, and such--but these were practiced by males who were generally very strong.  In the 70's when students were taught to force the energies to come alive, there were many Kundalini casualties.

When Sally had an unexpected awakening, she had some sudden shifts in her abilities--she could now do visualizations easily, and also could do t'ai chi effortlessly.  Both of these had been quite difficult for her before. And she now felt self accepting--no longer was she the neurotic, self loathing person she had been before.

Rather than trying to control the energies, we should allow them to direct us.  Kundalini is the expression of the divine feminine--it never sleeps.  It should be approached with reverence and love.  It is also the underlying creative force of all that is.

Some traditional techniques are still used--as breath, meditation, and prayer.  Traditionally, the awakening begins in the lower chakras and moves upward.  But it can open in other places, such as the heart or the head.

It often feels like a caress.

This sensation arises from the presence of the goddess in our body.  "She" makes love to us from the inside.

Kundalini is rewiring us through the divine feminine.

The inner essence of Kundalini is love.

Part Two of Sally's 7 week series on the Wisdom Goddess begins on November 4.

"I am not here" (poem by Dorothy, after Kabir)

I am not here
(after Kabir)

I am not here,
I am not there.

I am bird flying toward the sun
and fish swimming in the depths.

I do not walk on two legs,
nor gallop on four.

I am the circle
and its hidden center.

I am the pleasure
and also the pain.

I am god peering down
on earth
and the petitioner searching the sky
for the One.

I am the poet writing
and also the poem.

I am the book
and the reader turning its pages.

I am the tongue
and the words it speaks.

I am the god of stillness
and the goddess moving within.

I am myself
and the you I met in the street last night.

I have no name
and am the sound that is uttered
by the saint.

I do not live here
and am never home at my address.

I am the lost soul
and the awakened worshipper.

Mirabai Starr--free seminar tomorrow on St. Teresa of Avila

Dear Dorothy Walters,

I wanted to remind you about the free event happening tomorrow with world-respected mystic-scholar Mirabai Starr on The Divine Ordinariness of Saint Teresa of Avila.

Mirabai is a critically acclaimed author and inter-spiritual teacher who is committed to offering an exciting and new perspective on St. Teresa -- giving insight into the surprising truth of her grounded wisdom.

In this virtual event, you will learn how St. Teresa's spiritual journey can serve as a foundation for your alchemical realization of what it means to be a feminine mystic in the world today -- and discover how this learning can be directly applied into your everyday life.

Even though St. Teresa walked the deeply otherworldly path, Mirabai will share with you the unexpected ways she was unapologetically human, accessible and divinely "ordinary."

Mirabai's relationship with St. Teresa is also surprising and electrifying -- and in this special session, she will reveal aspects of how she came to know St. Teresa and how this relationship was profoundly transformational and healing.

Here are the call-in details for tomorrow:

James Broughton--Easter Exultet (poem)

Easter Exultet

Shake out your qualms.
Shake up your dreams.
Deepen your roots.
Extend your branches.
Trust deep water
and head for the open,
even if your vision
shipwrecks you.
Quit your addiction
to sneer and complain.
Open a lookout.
Dance on a brink.
Run with your wildfire.
You are closer to glory
leaping an abyss
than upholstering a rut.
Not dawdling.
Not doubting.
Intrepid all the way
Walk toward clarity.
At every crossroad
Be prepared
to bump into wonder.
Only love prevails.
En route to disaster
insist on canticles.
Lift your ineffable
out of the mundane.
Nothing perishes;
nothing survives;
everything transforms!
Honeymoon with Big Joy!
